The best known methods of using the plant, and no doubt the most ancient, are infusion and decoction. It's good old herbal tea! Infusion means the plant coming into contact with the boiling water and being drunk quickly to prevent the active - and often volatile - principles from being lost. Decoction consists of bringing the water and the plant to the boil starting from cold. This way the active principles are extracted, dissolved, and much better assimilated by the body.
